GNHCB Welcomes King Prajadhipok’s Study Tour Delegation

In March 2024, the GNH Centre Bhutan hosted a delegation of twenty one from the King Prajadhipok’s Institute (KPI) of Thailand. As part of their learning visit, the Centre held a presentation on Bhutan’s GNH Philosophy and way of life.
The discussions delved into various topics, with a notable focus on the monastic communities, often regarded as some of the happiest individuals in the country. Participants were keen to learn more about the origins and objectives of initiatives such as Dessups and the recent Gyalsung Projects, showcasing their genuine interest in comprehending Bhutan's holistic approach to well-being.
Among the topics of particular interest were queries into the monastic communities ranked amongst the happiest individuals in the country. Queries about the origins and objectives of initiatives like Dessups and recent Gyalsung Projects showcased their eagerness to understand the holistic approach to well-being in Bhutan.
Additionally, considerable attention was also directed towards the disparity of happiness between the rural and urban areas as revealed by the 2022 GNH Index. In concluding the session, the attendees expressed a renewed sense of appreciation of the multifaceted dimension of happiness.
The visit was part of the KPI course called “Politics and Governance in Democratic Systems for Executives”. One of the objectives of the course is to strengthen participants’ understanding, attitudes, and analytical skills for the benefit of Thai democracy and politics. The GNH session was held to enhance the participants’ understanding of political systems and governance from an international perspective.
