25 January 2019, Thimphu: The Gross National Happiness Centre Bhutan will host a 5-day workshop, the GNH Youth Leadership Programme (GYLP), where about 35 students from various colleges will participate to gain deeper understanding of GNH values along with compassion and wisdom and to learn about leadership skills. The workshop will be held from 28th January to 1st February 2019 at the BMCI (Bhutan Media and Communications Institute) conference hall.

During the workshop, the students will also be encouraged to create their own GNH Project Prototype aimed at augmenting and deliberating on any of the facets of GNH. Those project ideas will be presented and shared with GNHCB on the last day of the workshop.

With the theme of “bringing forward the leader in you”, the 5-day workshop will also see that the participants are exposed to the conditions pertaining to employment and leadership. Various presentations will be delivered by GNHCB staffs and guest speakers on relevant subjects. Topics included are “Educating for GNH”, “Communication Skills for leaders”, “Youth Issues”, “Social Entrepreneurship” and “Youth and Spiritualism” among others.

The GYLP workshops are intended to groom, guide and make the young Bhutanese realize their potential as future leaders. The GNHCB hopes to support the projects to create an applicable and viable programme to the benefit of youths and general public.

Note:

  • Members from the media are invited at 12pm on Day 5 (Friday, 1 February 2019) to attend the presentations about project ideas from the students)
